The peep shows at the Lusty Lady were far from ordinary, nor were it’s employees. In 1997 it became the first US business in the sex industry to successfully unionize, then in 2003 ownership was taken over by the workers and it began running as a cooperative.
This is an intimate look at the women who ran this infamous spot in San Francisco. In part to rising rents across the city, their lease was not renewed in 2013 and The Lusty Lady closed its doors forever.
It’s an unquestionably a dirty job, and these are the people that do it. This is a glimpse into what it’s like working for the largest company in the Bay Area that cleans the aftermath of the unthinkable: homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths.
